Art Market 2pt win 4.35 Southwell
Another year of following and backing horses from the yard that i consider the most reliable and predictable in Racing.
Although they had an unraced 3yo Seconds Count make an eyecatching debut finishing 2nd at Lingfield our year kicks off with a Class 4 3yo handicap at Southwell and a field of just 5 of which the stable fields two of the runners.
Last season we didn’t recommend any bets from the yard until the spring and they were unusually quite on the AW during January February and March with just a couple of winners. However in previous years they have been highly productive. At Southwell in the last 10 years 6 horses from the yard have been returned as favourite and 5 have won!
That stat alone makes Art Market priced up at around 2/1 as worth a bet , however the yard is also in excellent form . Carbine Harvester won at this track at the end of December despite a massive drift from 5/2 to 17/2. His victory was a huge improvement on his previous outings, quickening clear from a well fancied heavily backed favourite. As previously mentioned Seconds Count ran very well on debut yesterday and this class 4 handicap looks well within the capability of the 3yo, who on his last two outings was well fancied in Newbury and Sandown Nursery’s.
The horse is bred to go well on the AW his dam winning first time out at Newcastle and then winning multiple races at Dundalk.
I’ve taken the 2/1 that was available and with a small drift likely recommend a 2pt win Bet BOG.
RACE REVIEW
This was frustrating heavily backed from 9/4 into 13/8 Art Market’s stable mate Choreographic who was the outsider of the field of 5 at 12/2 ridden by claimer Sam Burns who had front run in the past tucked behind the pace setter and allowed Hector Crouch a soft lead on Misty Sky . Art Dancer didn’t really settle off the moderate gallop and got caught too far back when Hector Crouch quickened up and never looked like pegging back the winner .
If as I expected Choreographic had contested the pace from the gate I think the result would have been different.
