The 3m Racing TV Handicap Chase ran at Carlisle on 1st December has proven to be a great race to follow with the form being boosted on many occasions providing me with some excellent bets and profit.
Initially i was attracted by the link to the form of our Cheltenham festival bet on Haiti Couleurs and my confidence was reinforced by the finishing 4F of the race which was was ran in almost identical time to that of Caldwell Porter 1 hour earlier over a trip of just 2m.
Subsequently, from the first six in the race O’Connell Street, Fortunate Man, Ned Tanner have all won and Jacks Parrot was unlucky not to win the Tommy Whittle at Haydock. Come on Teddy is yet to reappear and in 3rd place was Illico De Cotte.
The race owes me nothing but there is absolutely no reason not to support Illico De Cotte who reappears in the 3m Handicap Chase at Exeter due off at 2.38 on Monday.
He was due to run in the abandoned Chepstow meeting last week , so there is no concern with him not being fit after the cold spell.
The two dangers are Well Dick who runs for only the second time for Emma Lavelle and Livin on Luca for the red hot Hobbs- White team. Both these are very inconsistent and will not just have to be on a going day but will also need a career best performance to defeat Illico De Cotte who has plenty of improvement in him.
An excellent jumper with plenty of stamina, he travelled like the winner for much of the race at Carlisle before being outpaced on the run in by two well handicapped rivals.
In the same ownership as Grey Dawning, I fully expect the 7yo to win well here and then head for Cheltenham to take on Haiti Couleurs in the National Hunt Novices Chase.
Monday bet
2pt win Illico De Cotte 2.38 Exeter
