A fascinating five days of racing that started with Newbury on Wednesday continues with headline meetings at Wincanton Thursday and Windsor on Friday.
I had considered backing the Henderson trained duo of Ideal Des Bordes in the 12.50 Wincanton but feel the chase debutant will be too short in the market first time over fences. I had earmarked Kado de Jaio as a gelding likely to continue his upward trend and complete a hat trick but i don’t think he is the sort of ride that suits Nico De Boinville, who takes over from James Bowen, and with a couple of dark horses in the race and on a track that favours pace setters over 2m4f. With odds also skinny at 11/4 i am not backing the 5yo.
However at better odds of around 3/1 We Got Your Back has a more straight forward chance at Ludlow.
Having been in the doldrums the yard of Linda Morgan has come to the fore in 2025. I was impressed with the way We Got Your Back accelerated past Lady Pretender at Leicester and expect the result to be confirmed at Ludlow on Thursday in the 2.25 2m4f handicap chase. Morgan does well with her chasers when they hit form and has a very good record with them following up improved winning performances. I can only see the chase debutant Thunder N Lightnin as a danger who is a first runner in a chase at Ludlow for the Harry Derham yard who have Ascending Lark in the 3.00 that looks a good thing at short odds.
Lady Pretender re-opposes but I am keen to take on all Venetia’s runners as the stable appears to be repeating last years trend of being in great form in November and December and then completely out of form in January and February.

Navejo Indy a handicap Hurdler to follow
On Friday the winter million meetings kick off at Windsor and offers a great chance for Navejo Indy to pick up a 57,000 prize. At the time of writing 8/1 is available with most firms which is terrific value for a rapidily improving 6yo who runs for Tom Symonds whose yard could not be in better form.
Some pundits talking about the meeting seen to have forgotten that the course is no longer figure of 8 but is now oval and much more of a galloping track with a long home straight. This will suit Navejo Indy as it makes the course very similiar to Newbury where he will head next for the Betfair Hurdle.
A win he will give him a rise in the handicap which will put the gelding in the Befhurdle with an ideal mark in the mid 130’s.
What appeals most to me about the horse is the ability to maintain a high speed gallop over a long stretch of ground, which gives the potential to beat off the challengers of the speed horses such as Brentford Hope and Kabral Du Mathan that head the market.
Recommended Bet 1pt ew Navejo Indy 3.35 Windsor Friday.
