The Micky Hammond yard is in decent form in recent weeks and they go into the weekend with several live chances. However Halpha Soleil looks the best bet for the yard today in the 1.35 at Catterick.
Hammond has won this race for the past two years and everything indicates the 8yo has been primed to give the yard a hat trick. Given two nice introductory runs over the larger obstacles in Class4 level, both times behind the useful Rattling Road, the gelding drops into Class 5 level at Catterick.
Brian Hughes has been booked for the ride and he has an excellent record for the ride when riding over the larger obstacles.
I expect the 8yo to be prominent throughout and gain his first win over fences. He has decent track form over hurdles, is best going left handed and gets his favoured soft ground. Everything is in place for a good run.
The one caveat is Linda Morgan runs a dark horse first time over fences in the same race named Shattered Soldier. There has not been any significant money for it – but should there be a market move i will take the option out the of a small saver.
Todays Bet 1.75pts win Halpha Soleil 1.35 Catterick
(0.25 win saver Shattered Soldier if positive market mover)
