Kalium to continue progress at Carlisle

Tim Vaughan and Alan Johns have an excellent strike rate at Carlisle and it is no coincidence that they send their improving 5yo gelding Kalium to the track for his handicap hurdle debut on Monday.

The 5/2 on offer looks good value where the main danger is the weak finisher Golden Maverick and the remainder of the field well exposed.

Bought for £100,000 the strong travelling gelding looks set to be one of the shining lights in the yard. The last time out victory at Fontwell was recorded in an excellent time and whilst the opening handicap mark of 120 is about right he will relish the stiff uphill finish in a race that looks certain to be run at an even pace.

At a time of the season when novices moving into handicap company have a great strike rate he can get the week off to a good start

1pt win Kalium 3.30 Carlisle 5/2
