Since her run of major successes in big races at the back end of 2024, the form of the Venetia Williams yard has been very inconsistent with several of the leading horses and many of the lesser lights under performing.
However, in the last few days of January and into February they have returned to a greater level of consistency with 5 winners from 16 runners and a 31% strike rate.
The yard has several well fancied horses running this week and I expect Simple Getaway to show marked improvement and take out the 3m Class 5 handicap chase at Ludlow.
On his seasonal reappearence he faced what was an impossible task in receipt of just 6lb Katate Dori. That horse was rated 110 and has subsequently been an unlucky loser off 122 of the class 3 Somerset national.
Simple Getaway was the only horse to try to keep pace with Katate Dori, jumping really well, but paid for those exertions weakening to finish 4th . The handicapper has dropped him 4lb to a mark of 100, which enables the 7yo to get into this low grade 0-100 handicap chase.
Venetia invariable does well at Ludlow and this horse who cost 180,000 can reward the owners patience and start to repay that hefty price
1pt win Simple Getaway 2.45 Ludlow Wednesday
