Transformational Betting for 2026

Hag Tag update Feb 7th 2025

The yard have not given up on the 6yo Majloom who remains in training for the upcoming season.

Probably one of the most frustrating Group 1 horses to have been housed at Somerville Lodge, his misfortunes started in the St James Palace Stakes when as a 3yo the colt was arguably denied victory by being trapped on the rails beaten 1/2L to Coreobus.

A series of injuries and races not being ran to suit have coincided with question marks about his best trip.

After that June afternoon in 2022 few would have imagined he would be turning up on a February afternoon in 2025 at Lingfield Park without having recorded another victory.

He does though retain a huge amount of ability and was second beaten just over a length by Notable Speech in the Group 1 Sussex stakes last season.

It is not surprising that they have decided to roll the dice again and it makes sense to give him a confidence booster here on Friday, when he will be long odds on to win a race, where none of the rivals come close to matching his ability. Some bookies may want to take him on , so expect a drift but the race is one to watch and then follow this horse into 2025 as he attempts belatedly to fulfil his potential.

The other entry is the puzzle that is Carbine Harvester. Due to be retired he suddenly found some form winning his last three and now goes into a Class 2 handicap at Southwell off a mark of 82 having started his winning run of a mark of 64.

I have doubted the value of his form and will stick my neck out and Lay this horse if he is put in at a low price. The Karl Burke 3yo Rebels Gamble is a very interesting runner in this handicap of a mark of 95.

Remember the flat season starts just two weeks after Cheltenham !!

Review of previous week

Power Fizz gave the yard an odds on winner in a minor event at Newcastle under a considerate well judged ride by Ceiron Fallon. The 3yo should be winning handicaps in the upcoming season.
