Non Stop to Resume Chasing Career with a Win at Plumpton
Joe Tizzard’s yard is in flying form, and Non Stop, who returns to the larger obstacles in the 4:15 at Plumpton, looks well placed to add to their impressive February record.
From their last 22 runners sent off at 12/1 or shorter, Tizzard’s team has recorded seven winners, with only two finishing outside the frame—both after notable jumping errors. Of the remaining 13, six finished second, while another seven placed third or fourth.
Non Stop makes his seasonal reappearance over fences after three solid efforts in handicap hurdles. He won at Plumpton before producing creditable runs behind the useful Sir William Rufus and Kabral Du Mathan, the latter one of the few Paul Nicholls-trained horses to have run to their full potential this term.
Tizzard stated at the beginning of the season that the six-year-old remained over hurdles due to an overreach sustained while chasing in the spring of 2024.
Having initially started his career over fences as a four-year-old, he showed early promise when finishing behind Heros, who went on to win again and compete well in Class 3 handicaps. He was then sent off 7/4 favourite next time out in a race won by Liberty Hunter and ran well until weakening two out. His final start over fences was a disappointment, but the injury sustained offers a valid excuse.
He now returns to chasing off a mark of 110, and I would be surprised if that doesn’t significantly underestimate his ability.
The small field of five contains some dangers, but it should ensure a truly-run race. If money comes for the locally trained pair Jolyjump and Alto Alto, we could see a bigger price than the current 5/2, which would make Non Stop an even more attractive bet. He comes here after a 52 day break which is a bonus as he has a good record of running well when fresh.
I recommend taking the best available BOG price after 8:00 am.
