Many trainers are looking to hit form in readiness for the Festival but none can rival the current well being of leading handler Venetia Williams.
Her horses were a little in at out at the turn of the year but over the past 14 days she has sent out a regular stream of winners with 9 winners from 29 horses sent to post at 12/1 or less.
What has impressed me most is the ease with which her horses are travelling through their races. Seemingly travelling with ease and then staying on strongly.
The yard can add to their tally and send out two runners on Friday – one at Exeter and one at Warwick.
First to post at Exeter in the 2.30 ridden by Charlie Deutsch is Alcedo who takes on 4 opponents in the 3 mile handicap chase. The 7yo has looked ready to step up to the 3m trip and at a track where the yard have an excellent record he can follow up his win on heavy at Ffos Las when he needed every yard of the 2m4f trip
10 minutes later Ned Fox rides Denmat in the 2m 4f handicap at Warwick. The form of his last outing at Newbury behind Wise Guy in a Class 2 handicap has worked out well, he finished 17l clear of Le Milos who came out and won here at Warwick on his next outing.
Wiseguy the winner at Newbury ran well behind Victtorino in the Class 1 Betfair Handicap at Ascot beaten just over 6L and is now bound for the Festival. Denmat is and in grade to a Class 3 today – he should outclass his inferior rivals.
Fox has got the ride as he can take off a valuable 3lb and i think the yard can complete a quick across the card double,
