Haggas team back in action as March approaches

4 entries this week so far , with the three-year-old Kingman colt, Regalian, entered at Newcastle on Thursday (3.55) in what is not the strongest looking novice stakes.

Regalian’s dam has produced one other horse, Theory of Tides, who is also owned by Isa Salman Al Khalifa (owner of Economics). Theory of Tides needed 1m2f+ to show his best form, there is no strong indication that Regalian will be ready to fire first time out, that’s often the case with unraced horses from this yard—Economics, for example, finished 4th of 13 on debut.

There are one or two other well bred newcomers that may line up. As always, especially that he starts over 7f, I wouldn’t recommend a bet on the 3yo but don’t be surprised, if he comes in for support and goes off fairly short in the market.

My nemesis horse Carbine Harvester is entered in a Class2 handicap at Lingfield (3.00). I still maintain that everything that could go right, went right for the colt in his last two wins. He started his win streak from a mark of 68 and will go to post 14lb higher on Friday. I will be amazed he if can win a Class 2

A mark of 79 and an entry in a Class 4 handicap in the 5.45 at Southwell on Friday is however potentially well within the capabilities of Power Fizz.

He has not been jocked up as yet, with Tom Marquand booked for outside rides at Lingfield, he is not a certain runner. If he is declared on Wednesday i will do a full review of the race and put on the site.

The final entry so far this week is the unraced 3yo filly Luxmundi, who is entered in the 1m3f Novice stakes at Southwell due off at 7.45.

There is nothing in her pedigree to suggest this Sea the Moon filly will be ready to win first time out, if she does go to post a watching brief will be advised.

Horse to follow – Realign 3yo colt

Realign has the potential to follow in the footsteps of Lake Forest, Sacred, Tiber Flow and Montassib and contest high quality Group races over 6F in the coming season.

Although still a maiden his two outings as a 2yo left no doubt he has group race potential. a son of Blue Point out of a Dark Angel mare he was always likely to better over sprint trips. Owned by Wathnan racing his initial run was typical of many from the yard in that he was very green when asked to accelerate but despite this ran on really well to be beaten 2L by the current 2,000 Guineas favourite and Dewhurst and Middle Park stakes winner Shadow of Light.

He was then pitched into the 7f Convivial Maiden at York where after looking likely to win he tired inside the final 1f and finished 3rd behind subsequent Royal Lodge placed Angelo Buonorroti.

The colt clearly has a novice stakes race at his mercy and i would expect this to be the route the yard takes before going up in grade to a listed prize the 6F Carnarvon Stakes at Newbury in May being a possible stepping stone into Group company.
