Transformational Betting for 2026

Haggas Weekly Report 4 March 2025

Once Cheltenham is over everything will kick into gear for the start of the flat. The four Australian bound horses are en route from Somerville Lodge and of the four Dubai Honour and Al Mubhir could well be betting opportunities providing they settle well down under.

This week Raneen will head to post in the listed race at Lingfield on Wednesday but has a lot to do with two or three of the rivals higher rated.

Brewing had another run at Newcastle but he is rated at top of his ability and doesn’t look a likely bet in the near future. He won a race that fell apart earlier this winter and was predictably unable to back it up finishing well beaten.

The stable has just one runner left in the Lincoln – Bullitt Point has been taken out leaving just Godwinson who is also a likely non starter. One horse that would have been interesting in the Lincoln who has been kept back for bigger things in the summer is our next horse to follow from the yard, the 4yo Treasure Time.

A major contributor to our profits last year with 2 wins from 4 bets we had at 17/2 and 10/1. He was probably unfortunate not to land a third at Goodwood when denied a clear run in a big mile handicap.

He has all the credentials required to land a couple of big handicaps over a mile, the combination of speed and a desire to win standing him in good stead. He starts the season off a mark of 94 which has plenty of wiggle room and unless they decide to go for a race at York where he is already a winner I expect he may have one preparation run before the Royal Hunt Cup.

His 3yo form has been boosted almost by every horse that finished in front of him. He first showed signs of his potential when unlucky in running at Chester and he duly obliged next time out off a mark of in a Class 4 at Newmarket at a generous price of 17/2 beating Jungle Mac, Wonder Smile, North View and Mister Mojito who all won on their next two handicaps.

He got mugged on the line by First Conquest in a Class 2 handicap at the Newmarket July meeting. First Conquest is now rated 107 having won that race off a mark of 91. He was desperately unlucky when 5th at Goodwood and again that form has been boosted by the four that finished in front of him.

He proved that defeat was indeed unlucky, when showing great tenacity to win the big Sky Bet 1m handicap at the big York meeting beating Volterra who went on to win a big Autumn Handicap at Ascot.

He got beat at Doncaster on his final start , where the long season had probably taken its toil and he also met trouble in running. The form again has worked out very well.

That though, has at least left his mark of 94 unchanged and given an injury free campaign Treasure Time looks certain to land at least one big summer handicap for the yard that excels with this type of horse as they progress with age.
