Kepler’s Law to Rule at Sandown

We tipped Kepler’s Law to win a Grade 2 Novice Hurdle at Haydock, where he was backed from 6/1 to 3/1, only for soft ground to force his withdrawal. He then got a handicap mark of 128 for Chepstow, but again, soggy conditions saw him scratched—ironic, as his stablemate romped home there at 33/1. Now, this 6-year-old gets his shot in the EBF Final at Sandown, due off at 1:50 on Saturday, March 8.
This is no ordinary race. The EBF Final is a brutal test, packed with unexposed novices and lurking dangers. Last year, Ben Pauling saddled the first two home, and he’s back with Meetmebythesea and Itshardtoknow heading the market. Yet, the buzz around Kepler’s Law is impossible to ignore. The yard—riding high after that Chepstow coup—rates him their best prospect yet, a horse they believe can outshine the 134-rated Moon Rocket (second in that Haydock Grade 2) at level weights. His fluent jumping in schooling and stamina over 2m4f only fuel the hype.
The key? Ground. Sandown’s hurdles track can be a punters’ graveyard on soft going, but with Good to Soft likely this weekend (check the forecast closer to race day!), Kepler’s Law should thrive. Originally priced at 14/1, he’s been nibbled into 8/1 with some firms, reflecting confidence from those in the know. They’re even eyeing a Grade 1 3m Novice Hurdle in April to cap his hurdling career before chasing Grade 1 novice chase glory next season—think Brown Advisory contender.
In a field this deep, value matters. I recommend a 0.5pt each-way bet at 14/1 with Bet365 (1/4 odds, 1-2-3-4 places). Barring mishaps, Kepler’s Law could prove a class above on Saturday.
