Witch Hunter to sweep aside opposition

Sometimes there are betting opportunities that are simply to good to ignore and the 3.20 at Wolverhampton on Saturday is a perfect example where everything is in place including a price of around 7/1-8/1 in a field of just 7 runners.

Witch Hunter is the horse in question and the 7f listed race at the Midlands track looks an ideal opportunity for the 6yo to make it 3 out of 3 at the course and a second over the 7f trip. It looks an ideal opportunity for our first bet of the campaign

He can also extend the outstanding record that Jamie Spencer has on the horse. The former champion has ridden Witch Hunter on 5 of his 36 races with the following results:

3rd 25/1 in the Ascot Balmoral Handicap in a field of 30

2nd of 7 in a Group 2 race at Newbury beaten a nose

Won 50/1 in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot

His only other rides on him were in a Group 2 at Longchamp and a 4th placed at Pontefract, both courses where a mile would stretch his stamina.

He is close to the top of the ratings in this contest which is weak for a listed event, is well drawn in two, and with a relative good pace likely to be set by Fair Angelica and Royal Zabeel – Witch Hunter can be played late in typical Jamie Spencer style.

One further reason for the bet – until 10.30 Thursday morning Joe Leavy was booked, but just before declarations he was replaced by Spencer who goes to Wolverhampton just for this ride.
