The markets generally seem fairly steady during the morning .
One of the biggest moves has been for our best bet of the day French Sand in the 6.45 Wolverhampton 7/2 into 11/10 favourite in places. I would like to see the initial favourite Dubai Beach continue to drift. Lets hope Archie Watson’s filly gets the job done.
In the 5.50 at Doncaster Kinswoman is steady in the market at around 4/1 – 7/2 following support for the Owen Burrows runner Alfareq possibly due to the stable having a winner at the course on Friday but there is also a good word for the 3yo filly who cost 1.4 million at the sales.
I backed Kinswoman this morning at 4/1 BoG. I certainly wouldn’t put members off having a saver on Alfareq.
The other Haggas runner on the card is Raneenn in the 19.00. Although now in her right grade she pulls hard and there are three well fancied rivals in See Emily Run, Galaxy Run and Mostor Dreams and I will let her run – she is not a filly I like.
Onto the other Haggas runners:
Mamma Maria is a non runner 3.45 Leicester
Firstly the dilemma of Ceiron Fallon riding Sam Hawkens at Ripon rather than going to Doncaster.
The Ripon track is one that favours previous course winners and front runners. Charlie Johnstone has a great record in this race with 3 winners and 2 runners up in the last 5 years. One of those Knightswood runs here and also Cabrera runs for Ed Bethall who like Ralph Beckett always hits form in the last week of April and is very much a trainer to fear.
Sam Hawkens has drifted from 9/4 – 7/2 which supports my view that today is about preparation for a race at the York Dante meeting. It is only the third time it has ran for the yard and this is a race i will be keen to study closely without having a bet.
Finally Haydock – in the opener at 1.30 there is a very strong word for Antrim against Opportunity and with the Gosden team having a 50% strike rate with 1st and 2nd Favourites in 3yo Novice stakes races – i don’t wont to oppose it or change my belief that the Haggas trained 3yo’s are better for a race first time out.
If Opportunity wins he is likely to be a Group horse.
In the 4.25 Maelstrom is 8/11 having been as short as 4/9 with one firm !!! I will watch him win.
The 4.55 we have the same scenario as the 1.30 with a well backed Gosden horse in a Haydock Novice Cajole taking on Silver Chamber a Haggas 3yo running first time this season. I will take the same stance and watch without a financial involvement.
Onto the last at 5.25 – Yabher has been heavily supported along with the Charlie Hills trained favourite Carron. I have the opinion that Yabher is flattered by his 2yo win first time out. It was reported that he didn’t handle the dip at Newmarket. I like Carron but not enough to back against Yabher so will again watch the race without financial involvement.
In Summary – I have decided No further bets today – Back with news for Sunday in the morning after 8.00am.
