The Commonwealth Cup trial will be ran at a fast pace and that can be the set up needed for Electrolyte to kick off his season in style. His trainer Archie Watson has done exactly that – the yard is in great form and this Group 3 contest looks ready made for this colt as a start point to better things and possibly a major tilt over course and distance in the Group 1 feature at Royal Ascot.
Of the leading fancies here he looks the one major contender that will be ideally suited to this 6f trip.
Big Mojo looks a 5f sprinter and Rebels Gamble i suspect will need a stiffer test at Group 3 level. The other main contenders seem to be running at their maximum level here whereas Electrolyte has the scope to progress up the ranks.
Remarkably this will be the first ever ride for Wathnan Racing for Ryan Moore and only his 3rd for Archie Watson. Hollie has ridden 4 times for the owners and was second on Electrolyte beaten a nose in the Coventry Stakes over this course and distance lat season. She has not been jocked off for the fun of it and i believe this colt could well give the yard the Commonwealth Cup win they deserve after the victory and subsequent disqualification of Dragon Symbol. Bradsell who looked a certain winner of this trial in May in 2024 only to tire close home but then went on to win the Group 1 Kings Stand Stakes later in June.
I think the 3/1 on offer early doors with Betfred, William Hill, Coral and Ladbrokes is a decent price and have placed a 2pt win Bet
Recommended Bet Ascot 2.50 Electrolyte 2pt win.
