We recommended a bet on Consolidation last weekend at Goodwood to beat Power Fizz who had won for us at the Newmarket Craven meeting.
We just about got it right but Power Fizz ran a tremendous race beaten only a head. Both horses clocking exceptional speed figures that suggests a mark of 86 greatly under estimates the capability of the William Haggas trained 3yo.
The handicapper agrees and from Saturday he will race of a 4lb higher mark. – It is no surprise he runs on Friday. His chance is increased by the fact that both the second and third favourites have been withdrawn from races in recent weeks due to forecast fast ground , which is very likely to be the case on Friday.
Power Fizz has a perfect draw in 4 and I expect him to be up with the pace before powering home under Adam Faragher through the final furlong. It is a 3 point bet ( not 4pt ) only because it is the colts third race in 23 days.
3pt Recommended Bet 10/3 Power Fizz 1.50 Ascot Friday
