Hosanna to hit heights and Power home at Ayr.

It has paid to follow horses that were transferred to new yards after the retirement of Sir Michael Stoute and i have kept a close watch on the now Tim Easterby trained Hosanna Power , who has been kept in training by the King Power team.

Needing the outing first time out he improved considerably on his next race on the AW at Newcastle when just touched off in a 3 way photo finish. The winner Londoner just failed to follow up at Lingfield with a 5lb penalty on ground that looked plenty fast enough for him.

As a 4yo after winning at Newbury off a mark of 81 Hosanna Power looked likely to develop into the type of improving 4yo handicapper that Stoute excelled with and progress to race off marks in the 90’s.

His progress stalled when heavily backed to win a Class 3 handicap at Chester on his next outing off a mark of 85 but didn’t handle the soft ground and was beaten 4L into third. The rest of his time at Stoute’s was something of a non event – he had no chance from a wide draw around Chelmsford and was then interfered with by a loose horse at Pontefract and was given a run when dropped back to a mile on his final start again back at Chelmsford , which at least got his handicap mark down to 78

Hosanna Power runs best over 10f on a left handed flat track with good to firm going and he gets these conditions for the first time since winning that Class 3 handicap at Newbury in May 2024. The Newcastle run showed he still has the ability to be better than a Class 4 handicapper which he can prove on Wednesday.

The race features the inform pair of Glasses Up and Jujubella who head the market but they look to be in the grip of the handicapper now and the danger could will be Sea Legend who has a similar profile to Hosanna Power having just his third outing for Jim Goldie but he has also been tried at hurdling and doesn’t look to have the same class or speed as our selection.

I expect David Allan to keep things simple and ride closer to the pace than he did at Newcastle and enable the 5yo’s class to see him home.

Due to the sheer volume of runners they send to post the Easterby yard normally is not noted for high stats but in handicaps over 1m+ at Ayr with horses starting 1,2,3 in the betting their record is 8-17 and I am certain this race has been targeted for Hosanna Power before he goes up in class.

Diary of the Season 1pt win Recommended Bet Hosanna Power 4.05 Ayr Wednesday Price around 9/2-5/1 will probably hold up for BOG at 8.00am
