Our 1pt bet on Wednesday Hosanna Power broke down and was pulled up- lets hope he is ok – but it didn’t look good.
Thursday is a prelude to the 4 day weekend of action from Friday through to Bank Holiday Monday with the 3 day Irish Guineas meeting at the Curragh the highlight.
Having had a 4 week spell of fast ground it is however necessary that one eye is kept on the forecast wet weather , which could potentially scupper the chances of many horses with recent established form on fast ground.
On each day through to Monday I will prepare a noon midday update and at that point will confirm bets and stakes depending on ground conditions.
Thursday and Friday seem certain to see the ground conditions unchanged as the wet weather is not due to arrive until Saturday in the UK although that may not be the case for Ireland.
The Haggas team has not sent out a winner since last Friday at Newbury a run of 16 races and 6 well backed beaten favourites with several at Newmarket being especially disappointing.
The runners this week have ran up to expectations so it should be a minor blip and I am confident Pearla will be their next winner at Haydock in the 4.17. Despite the presence of two promising Goldophin fillies Pearla who was entered in the Arc De Triomphe after her Newmarket debut looks sure to go off around Evs or less – so we can watch the yard get back into winning form without investing.
Golden Trickett heads to post in the 4.52 for his second outing but was really green on debut and may not be sufficiently street wise to handle what could be muddling race with just 5 declared.
In the finale at 17.22 Suhub has shown sufficient potential as a 2yo to suggest he can win races off the mark of 76 over 7f on fast ground. He has those conditions on Friday but is not well handicapped enough for us to break our rule, that the yards 3yo’s need a run in the current calendar year before they are betting opportunities.
I will confirm any Bets for Thursday away from Haydock on the Noon update tomorrow,
