Richard Hannon has had a phenomenal run with his 3yo staying handicappers in May.
Here is the full record of 3yo horses running in handicaps over 8f or further from the yard over the last 21 days.
Won 11/2
Won Evs
Won 5/2
Won 9/1
Won 2/1 ( Also 5th 9/1 same race)
Won 11/4
8th 28/1
5th 40/1
u/p 13/8 ( pulled up)
3rd 3/1
Won 11/10
Won 3/1
Thats an incredible 75% win strike rate but thats understating the record. If you ignore the 28/1 ,40/1 shots and the outsider of 2 plus the 13/8 favourite that broke down it could be argued there has only been one disappointment who was 3rd in a very hot handicap and form that we will be following over the weekend.
On Friday at Chepstow, Hannon has declared two (it’s never straight forward), in the 10f 3yo handicap the 2.25 at Chepstow.
Sol Argent was one of those winners at 3/1 when he got the run of the race from the front in a class 6 at Brighton. The Jack Channon yard sends out the probable early favourite in Pomme Pomme who has won a couple of Class 6 handicaps but it is Justenzia from the Hannon yard I want to be on.
He needed the run and failed to stay on his seasonal debut at Kempton but it is his second run as a 2yo just over 6L behind American Gal that is clearly the best form on offer. American Gal is now a listed winner with potential to contend in group races this season.
Justenzia was supported at Kempton and the form has worked out reasonably well.
Three of the yards winners that have won in this winning streak followed up within 7 days under a penalty and it looks significant that Justenzia is entered again at Wetherby Monday and Wolverhampton Tuesday
The market is interesting with Sol Argent 7/2 and Justenzia 8/1 I think it is more than likely the son of Ghaiyyath will be the subject of hefty market support if I have got it right about the potential and the plan.
Diary of A Season Friday 30th May 1pt ew Justenzia 2.25 Chepstow.
