I put Wicked up as a small bet at 9/2 because i wanted to follow the form lines created by what i believe are high quality possibly Group 1 3yo horses over 10f and 12f namely Bedouin Prince and Bowmark
Over the next couple of weeks horses running behind them will run in handicaps for the first time off marks of around 80 – Wicked being the first.
He won with plenty in hand and we need no further evidence to back up this and get stuck in to the horses linked to the form.
The next opportunity occurs in the 8.20 at Haydock where both Best Adventure and Kurakka are in the diary as horses to follow.
The Ian Balding trained Best Adventure was a shade fortunate to beat Venezuelan at Newmarket but the Ralph Beckett horse had previously finished in front of Wicked. The winner of that race Dixieland Blues let the form down when well backed in a Class 2 handicap here at Haydock but the run was too bad to be true he finished 10th of 12 and he is possibly one of those horses better suited to the AW.
Best Adventure will be held up here but there looks to be a strong pace which should negate the advantage front runners have at this track He does though have to prove he stays the 12f which Kurakka definitely will.
Given the slight question mark about the trip for the favourite I am going to have a saver on Kurakka it would be daft to lose on the race given the potential he showed when he won at Chelmsford and his run behind Bowmark.
I don’t want to go too big – there are lots of 3pt and 4pt bets coming
