Transformational Betting for 2026

Saturday WH Spotlight

Two 2nds so far Friday one each way at 8/1 so a small profit and Noble Horizon getting mugged at Chepstow after seeing off the odds on favourite.

The Haggas team should have a very good Saturday – Here is the general overview with recommended bets and stakes.

I will cover the Haggas runners off first and then move onto one bet from another yard:

CHESTER

1.35 Abloom

Didn’t show enough first time out at Thirsk to suggest he can cope with what looks a tougher race around Chester on his second run.

2.10 Brewing

Badly handicapped and goes up in grade to a Class 2 which has looked beyond him in the past – needs to drop in his handicap mark. Forecast price of 20/1 is about right

5.35 Sir William

Interesting down in grade to a Class 4 (0-78) and gets in off a mark of 78 Drawn ok in stall 5. Haggas doesn’t have a great record at Chester with 3yo’s in handicaps Rebaatt did win over 10f in 2024, but aside from two wins at the October meeting on soft ground in 2021 you need to go back to 2017 when Fastnet Tempest followed up his Victoria Cup win when odds on here at Chester.

Sir William has been very well backed without delivering on at least two occasions and whilst he could be of those quirky characters suited to Chester – I don’t want to bet to prove it!

Haydock

2.58 Chorus

First step into Group company and main aim will be getting some black type – but should run well. Current price of 12/1 is about right

Southwell

6.35 Luxmundi

First run since February at Southwell – Best watched but this doesn’t look a strong maiden and could run well at good price.

York

2.05 Art Lover

First time out 2yo – watching brief.

3.05 Term Of Endearment

Looks to have been targeted for this 2pt Bet 3/1 already posted

3.50 Cairdeas

Maybe not ideally drawn in stall 15 but very interesting – was probably unlucky not to win both his first two outings this season when having to race wide at Ripon which is never ideal and then short of room when challenging at Newcastle.

The silver lining is that had he won one or both of those races he would have ben put up 5lb but in fact has been dropped to a mark of 79 a full 8lbs lower than his original mark of 87 which enables him to still run against the Class 4 opposition.

The form of the Ripon run (on seasonal debut, so he is certain to have come on for the race) is very strong with the winner American Style twice going close to winning Class 2 handicaps off a 5lb higher mark and the 4th and 5th winning next time out.

The value of the Newcastle run will be tested on Saturday with the second placed Oolong Poobong and third placed Knight of Gold both having leading chances in the 4.00 Haydock and the 7.05 al Lingfield respectively

At first glance stall 15 is not good but Cairdeas was always going to be held up and in a field of 22 they tend to go hard up the inside rail and can often leave a path open for the closers coming down the outside. We will probably get 6 places in the morning and Cairdeas is well worth an interest to prove he is now well handicapped and potentially better than a grade 4 handicapper over 7F

Recommended 1pt ew Cairdeas 3.50 York six places

Bets from other yards

Continuing with the Bedouin Prince, Bowmark form lines. War Hawk looks to have a major chance for us to further profit from the races through his 2nd behind Gunship finishing in front of Tilted Kilt.

Although our bet on Noble Horizon finished 2nd today he should have won getting involved in a duel from 3F out with the odds on favourite and then having beat that off got caught by Luke Morris coming over the top on Rogue Invader. Noble Mission will get a good handicap mark now and we will get that money back with interest.

War Hawk was a big eyecatcher at Newcastle and looks to have the ideal set up for Chester drawn in stall 3 with a strong pace assured. I expect him to race off the pace on the rails and then come wide off the bend as the pace collapses from the front. This is a well handicapped horse off a mark of 79 he is another that can win in grade 4 company before stepping up in class

Recomended Bet 2pt win War Hawk
