Transformational Betting for 2026

Day to take stock..

Friday at first glance looks to be full of opportunities but the three or four i was assessing have all been dealt really bad draws that negates any possibility of them being a bet for us.

I will run through the Haggas runners of which there are surprisingly only 4 on the day.

None of them were seriously considered as betting opportunities. First up is Raneen in the 3.00 York. She won well on her last outing when I gave serious consideration to putting her up as a bet but decided against it as i was uncertain about her handicap mark. She duly won well and is only 3lb higher but she is also up in grade. Most significantly she bumps into a horse that has far greater scope for improvement in Easy Peeler, who but for Raheen’s presence in the field i would seriously have considered him a betting opportunity.

I also know that the favourite Rogue Sensation is very strongly fancied so have decided to watch the race without a bet.

In the 3.15 at Sandown Approval reappears for the third time this season. The gelding has yet to run within 20lb of his best form without really any excuses. he is best watched, at least he will slip down the handicap, and we can wait until he starts to show some sparkle.

Sir William in the 3.50 at Sandown was the closest I came to a bet on a Haggas horse on Friday but he has a really difficult draw to overcome in stall 10. Tom Marquand will need to drop in and hope for the breaks in the home straight. The 3yo has not looked the most straight forward and will need to improve if he is to beat the inform Antelope and top weight Best Adventure.

Finally Silver Chamber in the 6.05 Goodwood. After her second run if you had told me i could back her off a mark of 68 in a 0-70 handicap i would have bitten your hand off. However her run last time was a huge backward step and whilst it would be easy to say it was because of her first run on the AW i think she may not be in love with the game. The cheek pieces go on and whilst the headgear and the return to turf may do the trick on balance i prefer to watch.

Diary of a Season – No bet Friday
