Six meetings for Thursday as heat arrives…

Weds was very disappointing with all three bets how can I say this politely ‘ not placed best to challenge’. The first two probably didn’t help themselves but the defeat of our nap was caused purely by jockey error. She would have won well had she been ridden as she has been all season.

A busy day with six fixtures on Thursday including the start of the 3 day Newmarket July meeting.

There is a lot to consider and although there are some definite bets on Friday and Saturday. Thursday looks more complicated and some races will need more time to see how the markets develop especially around one or two hot pots that could become excellent opportunities.

I will put out a Noon Update on Thursday with confirmations of bets I will be placing.

The Haggas team only have two runners on the day. In the 8.45 At Epsom Pergola makes her handicap debut, but 65 does not look especially lenient and she will do well to beat the top form fast improving 3yo Inquisition.

Realign lines up for the ultra competitive Bet 365 6f Handicap due off at 3.00 Newmarket

Originally trained for the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup he was rerouted to the Palace of Holyroodhouse Handicap at Royal Ascot for which he was sent off favourite. That decision followed the allocation of a very attractive handicap mark of 93 and despite the drop in trip to 5F which wasn’t ideal.

Plan B didn’t work out and he ran far too freely before hanging badly right to be eventually beaten over 8L. The early signs are that the form of the race is not working out well and this is a much tougher contest.

However, Realign has been dropped a pound and Tom Marquand takes the ride from James Doyle who surprisingly rides another Wathnan runner The Strikin Viking who is a 33/1 outsider – Realign is 8/1 but the booking of Marquand at the moment is a negative.

Hucklesbrook, Double Rush, Invictus Gold and Crestofdistinction are just four potential major dangers.

Realign is very very well handicapped but it his tendency to hang under pressure that is the biggest concern and i will look further into the race before deciding whether to have a bet or just watch.
