The ground at Goodwood will be on the Soft side today ( tomorrow it will be Good Soft ( good in places ) but they have opened up fresh ground and there could be a bias towards those making their moves up the far rail. Although conversely they have removed the false rail which will lead to traffic problems.
Because of the fresh ground i will be very surprised if they tack across to the stands side.
Taking all that into account Ryan Moore on Skukusa is going to have to use up plenty of petrol to front run, or tuck in behind and be subject to fortune weaving through inside the final furlong together with Tribal Chief, Arisaig Rhoscolyn, Fifth Column and Dutch Decoy. The race looks set for many hard luck stories
Given the make up of the contest with not much early pace from the low draws my feeling is Moore will get out quick and work his way across to the far rail where he may have the opportunity to control the pace of the race, get a breather into the top weight and then let his class allow him to hold the finishers at bay.
That scenario from a punting perspective is the most logical angle. Good luck if your betting in the race.
