3 runners from the Haggas yard on Wednesday but firstly my attention was drawn earlier this week when I saw Harriet Bethell had entered a horse at Brighton.
It will come as no surprise to followers of my interest in this yard as her win strike rate to runners and record of targeting specific races for each individual horse in her care is very much in the Haggas mode.
When i dug deeper I discovered that this will be the stables first runner at Brighton and also the first ride for the yard for Daniel Muscutt.
Further analysis shows that Ideal Guest when trained by his previous trainer George Margarson is a duel course and distance winner off a mark of 62 and subsequently won a Class 4 handicap at Ascot off a mark of 70.
He is on Wednesday making the journey from N Yorkshire to Brighton down to a mark of 58 giving weight away to 8 inferior rivals and now trained by a yard for whom 80% of their runners are running to form or better and have a near 20% win strike rate . Oh and by the way the 6yo, who has shown he retains all all his ability is Timeform top rated. Watch out Haggas, Harriet is coming !!!
The simple fact is at 7/2it is an opportunity thats too good to pass up.
Recommended Bet 2pt win Ideal Guest 4.45 Brighton
Onto the Haggas trio and lets start with the potentially useful Jewelry in the Kempton 7.40. One of the Haggas horses that was able to win on debut it has turned out, as is often the case, that it was more a case of poor opposition rather than a sign of her being useful. Next time out at Salisbury she got kicked at the start and although allowed to race, ran poorly. But then so did everything else that ran in the race she won debut on debut at Newbury.
I have a feeling she will be put in at a short price and drift.

The first runner of the day is the 2yo Concert in the 5.45 at Yarmouth. This looks a match with Zighy from the Boughey yard and i expect it to be tight at the front of the market with both around the Even money mark. The jury is still out on the yards 2yo’s who have been backward and i would want to see a couple win before getting involved, especially at short prices.

Forever Penywern in the 6.45 has a lot to find with the favourite Nepal and although well suited to the step up in trip to 10f this will be the geldings third run and he is one to watch more closely when he goes handicapping.
