Danger on the Horizon but Thunder looks good.

By far the best race during the early part of the week is the Class 3 1m1f handicap at Hamilton due off at 7.10 on Tuesday.

It features the handicap debut of 2 very promising 3yo’s Noble Horizon from the Wlliiam Haggas yard and Danger Bay from the yard of Edward Bethell.

Noble Horizon has come up against some very useful colts before breaking his maiden tag finding a soft Novice Stakes at Leicester which he duly won by over 4Lat 2/9.

In one of those maidens he came up against Bedouin Prince who is now rated 100 and as a result Noble Horizon has been allocated a mark of 87. Just 1L behind in 4th was Eternal Prince who is now rated 83. On his next outing Eternal Prince was easily beaten by Danger Bay by nearly 3L which makes his rating of 89 about right.

However, i was very impressed with Danger Bay who travelled really well and then showed a good turn of foot to put the race to bed easily for far more value than the winning margin.

I know they considered going to Goodwood but have taken the easier option to head back to Hamilton, also i suspect in preference to York next week. I think he will have too much speed over this trip for the Haggas horse and the other horses at the head of the market Wave Rider and Immediate Effect.

Both Haggas 6-12 and Bethell 5-10 have a very healthy 50% strike rate with 3yo’s running at handicaps at the track in July August and September and i expect Bethell to increase his % at the expense of Haggas on Tuesday evening.

I will be happy to take any price around 3/1 on what could be the start of a very good run for the Ed Bethell yard.

Recommended Bet 2pt win Danger Bay 7.10 Hamilton.

The Haggas team should not go home without a winner as in the maiden at 6.40 an easy opportunity has been found for Golden Horse to progress into the winners enclosure albeit at price that will be odds on.

No Bet Recommended.

The Hungerford Stakes at Saturday has been marked up on Monday afternoon and I have taken the 5/1 More Thunder with the favourite at 2/1 Notable Speech a very doubtful runner and several others considered doubtful including Shadow of Light which the ground must be too fast for. Spy Chief, Witness Stand and Rage of Bamby ensuring they will be a strong pace for him to aim at.

I have no doubt he is well up to this class, his final 3f in the Wokingham were quicker than put up by Lazzat on the same day in the Group 1 Jubilee Stakes. Lazzat has an official rating of 118 and although beaten on Sunday he would be an odds on shot if contesting this contest. Its disappointing that the Goldolphin pair who headed the ante Post market have been taken out as I think he would have beaten both

Although he has only won handicaps I cannot see anyway any of his rivals would have been able to to do what he has this season.

Like other Ex -Stoute 3yo’s now 4yo’s in training with Andrew Balding Never So Brave and Fox Legacy I expect him to go up in grade without too much difficulty and then show himself to be a Group 1 horse moving on further into his career.

Ante Post 2pt win More Thunder 5/1 William Hill Hungerford Stakes Newbury Saturday.

Further 2pt win Overnight Declared 11/4
