The Hungerford Stakes at Saturday was marked up on Monday afternoon and I took the 5/1 More Thunder now with the original favourite at 2/1 Notable Speech and Shadow of Light confirmed on Thursday as non runners thats great value.
Spy Chief, Witness Stand and Rage of Bamby will ensure there will be a strong pace for him to aim at,. For once he is perfectly drawn in 3 in the middle of pacesetters Witness Stand, Duty First and Rage of Bamby in 1,2 and 4
I have no doubt he is well up to this class, his final 3f in the Wokingham were quicker than put up by Lazzat on the same day in the Group 1 Jubilee Stakes. Lazzat has an official rating of 118 and although beaten on Sunday he would be an odds on shot if contesting this Group 2. Its disappointing that the Goldolphin pair who headed the Ante Post market have been taken out as I think he would have beaten both.
Although he has only won handicaps I cannot see anyway any of his rivals would have been able to to do what he has this season.
Like other Ex -Stoute 3yo’s now 4yo’s in training with Andrew Balding Never the Brave and Fox Legacy I expect him to go up in grade without too much difficulty and then show himself to be a Group 1 horse moving on further in his career.
Haggas has a great record in the race sending 5 horses to contest the race in the last 10 years and 3 have won. Last Year Tiber Flow winning also from stall 3
At the prices available he is just about my most confident bet this season.
