Sunday & Monday: Time in the Garden

The win of More Thunder at 6/4 advised at 5/1 and 10/3 as our bet of the season was very pleasing and sets us up for the rest of the season.

With all the attention on York for the big Wednesday races, Sunday and Monday will be quiet. There are just a couple of runners in action over the next two days, but neither really stands out as one we can back with confidence.

Sunday – Southwell Fillies Maiden (3:52 PM)

On Sunday, Magic Star is back for his third run in the Southwell fillies maiden.

At Windsor, he seemed to be used as a pacemaker for Tenability, who was heavily backed that day. He was typically green on debut , clearly showing he needs more experience. So, unless something unexpected happens, we’re likely to see another learning run from him here. He has been nibbled at in the market this morning but thats due to the yards great form and i am not tempted. The yards last 16 3yo’s running in Maiden and Novice stakes races at Southwell have lost. I expect he will drift in the markets this morning.

No Bet Recommended.

Monday – Windsor Fillies Handicap (4:52 PM)

On Monday, Pergola takes her shot in the Windsor fillies handicap. We backed her last time at Sandown, but she was a huge disappointment. The heavy rain just before the race was blamed , but even so, the form of her Epsom win hasn’t quite worked out as we’d hoped. Looking at this race, she’s going to have her work cut out against the likes of Jet Black, and following the Sandown loss, it’s hard to justify chasing those losses here.

No Bet Recommended.

So, overall, Sunday and Monday are low-key days for us, with no real standouts to bet on. Let’s keep an eye on York for Wednesday although there are also several interesting entries for Tuesday!
