Mamma at the Double

The Haggas team found a perfect opportunity for Mamma Maria to break her maiden tag in what was a poor 0-70 handicap against some largely out of form rivals.

We landed a nice touch from 3/1 into 11/8. However everything that could go wrong did go wrong and she scrapped home by a neck. Drawn wide she ran freely and couldn’t get any cover and was still able to be coaxed home with the help of a great ride from Ceiren Fallon.

The second has boosted the form with a clear cut win at Mussleburgh but Mamma Maria was only been put up 2lb for that win and she has always looked a filly with the potential to win races off a mark in the 80’s and races here off just 67.

She is by Dubawi and is related to many useful fillies bred by the Moyglare Stud Farm and will appreciate all the rain that falls.

There are several fillies in top form against her on Friday afternoon. However the race set up is fine for her, perfectly drawn in stall 4 with several pace setters that will give Marquand ample opportunity to get her settled and produce her to win with a bit in hand. I fancy her to rack up a sequence of four or five wins. If she stands her racing she can be a real money spinner for us into the Autumn.

Owner Miss Yvonne Jacques also owns Tenability and Klassleader and she looks likely to have plenty more winners this season.
