Having suffered a traumatic day on Sunday it would easy to sit back and take a few days off with the strike on Wednesday. However that would mean missing a juicy 4/1 Ante Post bet on Thursday at Doncaster in the shape of Danielle in the Park Hill stakes at 3.00pm.
Quite simply everything possible is right for this 4yo filly in a race that the Gosden’s target annually.
Their record is outstanding with only Sweet Memories failing to run well when contesting this race in 2024. Dropping out as though something was amiss in what turned out to be her final race.
The previous 10 runners from the stable have all ran with great credit.
In 2023 the two Clarehaven runners One Evening and Lmay were sent off at 12/1 and 22/1 running really well to finish 2nd and 3rd.
In 2022 the stables only runner Mimikyu Won at 13/2
In 2021 Free Wind bolted up Won 15/8 as the favourite
In 2019 Enbihaar Won as the 6/5 favourite
In 2016 California was 3rd at 8/1 and Millsprings unplaced at 28/1
In 2015 Gretchen Won at 5/1 Millsprings was unplaced at 33/1
In 2014 Criteria was 3rd at 7/1
The last 5 horses running from Clarehavan in the Park Hill starting at an SP of 13/2 or less have all won.
Of the bigger priced runners one was second at 12/1 and 3 were third at 7/1, 8/1 and 22/1.
Only the unconsidered Millsprings at 33/1 and 28/1 has been out of the frame.
The soft ground will suit Danielle who despite being 2nd on her last 3 outings has only ran poorly on fast ground and has improved in each of those last three races. As a three year old before the spring trials she was 2nd favourite for the Oaks as she has a high class stamina laden pedigree. Being closely related to the Ascot Gold Cup winner Courage Mon Ami she will relish the trip.
Of the entries she is the only proven filly at Group 2 level with the rest entered looking for black type. That includes the Haggas pair Santorini Star and Chorus, but Haggas in recent years has yet to run a filly in this race that has reached the frame and they can both be passed over.
This looks a weak Park Hill with non of the entries rated on or above the average Timeform rating of 121 normally required to win this race. Danielle is the highest rated at 117 with scope to go well above it.
Danielle looks to have been set up for an Autumn campaign, she was not seen out until August, when she ran a great race on her first run over 14f just touched off by the very useful Waardah.
Her previous run was at Doncaster in November 2024 when she gave Estrange a race over 10f which would have been an absolute minimum trip.
I expect her to win here and then go to Ascot for the Group 1 Fillies and Mares with a great chance of running very well in that contest if it is ran under the the normal soft ground conditions. She is 10/1 Ante Post for that race.
Recommended Ante Post Bet 2pt win Danielle Park Hill Stakes 3.00 Doncaster Thursday. Likely to increase to 3pt after declarations on Tuesday.
