Quite Simply – “A brilliant racehorse”

Each season there are one or two performances that stand out from all others. It can be in Group races but not always, it can be trained by William Haggas but not always.

There have been two so far this season, firstly More Thunders incredible run in defeat at Ascot in the Wokingham – he is unbeaten since and I believe will go back to Ascot in October as favourite for the Champion Sprint.

However, of more immediate interest was the performance of the Owen Burrows trained filly Touleen when she trounced the highly touted and previously unbeaten Zanthos at Leicester.

Her next race will be the Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on Friday the 26th of September. She heads the market at 9/4 but there is every reason to believe she will be close to odds on . The current 2nd favourite Diamond Necklace at 3/1 has the Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp as her next target. Then there is Fitzella at 5/1 who looks booked for the Cheveley Park and then Precise at 8/1 who seems focused on the Breeders Cup.

Zanthos is among the next in the market and she was no match for Touleen at Leicester

The yard feel she will appreciate cut in the ground and I could see her going off Even Money or shorter on the day.

There is always a risk with Ante Post as we have found out this season with Albert Einstein and Crown of Oaks but like those two, if she gets to post at Newmarket on the 26th I cannot see her being beaten.

Such was the style of her win at Leicester against a rival that the yard thought could not be beaten and was sent off at 4/11 , she struck me as an exceptional filly with everything it takes to progress to Group 1 classic success as a 3yo.

She has yet to record an exceptional speed figure but that has been down to the pace of the races she has won. However her turn of foot was there for all to see.

Fingers crossed she gets an uninterrupted ran into the Rockfel over the next two weeks wins as expected and heads into the winter at the front of the market for the 2026 1,000 Guineas
