The Lincoln entries have been made and its no surprise that 3 of the 4 Somerville Lodge entries are towards the head of the Ante post market with Crown of Oaks as the early favourite, in a market that features the 102 entries, at 10/1.
Crown of Oaks will, if turning up, run off a mark of 104. Our early suggestion as the most likely winner for the yard, Eternal Force has been put in at 14/1 alongside stable companion Sea Force, the 4th entry First Principle is 20/1.
Plans are certain to be very fluid at this stage and I will keep you informed when more definite plans are known.
Dry January for the yard now extends to 0-12 with only Wujjood reaching the frame. However her good run in the Class 2 Handicap at Lingfield did suggest that a first win of 2026 is imminent.
Vizaja in the Southwell 5.15 has a reasonable chance of being the first winner in the 1m fillies novice stakes. However, her finishing effort at Lingfield was weak and she may need this 3rd run before getting her initial success.
Two hours later I expect Magic Stone to get win number one on the board also at Southwell in the 5f Handicap at 7.15.
The full brother to Stone of Destiny, who raced over 5f off a mark of 109 at his peak, drops down to the minimum trip after running consistently to a high level over 6f in 5 runs to date.
He was an eye catcher on seasonal debut beaten 2L at Wolverhampton despite having a troubled passage throughout the final 2f. Hopefully Tom Marquand has been watching the racing at Southwell this week and from stall 5 of 7 will get a pitch on the favoured stands rail.
There will be plenty of pace from Baker Blue and Fabrication and it will be disappointing if Magic Stone doesn’t have too much finishing speed to pick them off, inside the final furlong.
Already backed overnight into around 2/1 there is no need to go crazy and just a 1pt bet is advised.
