Dry January to extend to February

2026 looks set to go down as the worse in a decade for Haggas followers with the current run of 0-15.

With only a few runners set to go to post this week its looks odds on, that for the first time since the Covid year of 2020, Somerville Lodge will go winless heading into February. In 2020 the yard was 0-16 but had nine placed runners. After two very disappointing runs for Magic Stone and Carbine Harvester over the weekend, currently the third place of Wujjood is the only horse to be in the frame.

Don’t expect a glut of winners in February, it is rare that the yard sends out more than ten runners in what is traditionally the quietest 4 weeks of the season.

Berlinetta was last on her previous run, beaten over 10L at Southwell and she will need to show huge improvement to figure at Wolverhampton in the 6f handicap at 5.00 on Monday. She has only a small each way chance.

Later in the week Luminaire and Florida Suite have entries but were equally disappointing on their latest outings earlier this year and will also need to show great improvement to have a chance of giving the stable a first win in this calendar year.
