Transformational Betting for 2026

Monday pause before hectic week ahead.

The William Haggas team despite reports to the contrary have been in excellent (predictable) form all season and I expect the high bar established to go even higher this week.

Hamish although a bit shorter than is normal was a 4/6 shot available at 6/5 and I was happy to take the shorter odds on this occasion. He duly landed our sixth 3pt bet on Haggas horses this season, maintaining our 100% record.

The old warrior has been a great servant for the yard and a real money spinner winning on the last five occasions i have backed him.

With the ground set to return to good or faster in this week leading up to Ascot and then throughout the Royal meeting i am anticipating the period between now and the end of June to be our busiest of the year to date.

Not just Haggas but our other go to yards Balding,Gosden and Crisford are in great shape. The one notable exception is that of Ralph Beckett who has yet to hit any sort of consistent form. We have wisely steered clear advising just three bets this season 2 winners and 1 loser and over the weekend his better horses appeared to run below form.

It is the Windsor card on Monday evening that attracts my eye with three races for 3yo novices and maidens.

Gosden sends out the day’s banker in Nahraan Windsor 6.30 who could not have been more impressive when winning at Chelmsford. He is out quickly to give him experience as he looked a serious horse on his debut and i expect him to follow a similiar path to Ombudsman last season. Maybe he needs cut in the ground which i suspect is the reason for the quick second outing.

Haggas runs Earthwatch who needs this run before going handicapping, and the same factor applies to the Balding runner Jupiter Ammon.

Unlike Archivist last week the bookies won’t make the mistake of pricing up Nahraan odds against ! He will go off at less than 1/4 . So no Bet for the Diary

There are two divisions of the mile novice stakes and the second of them at 8.00pm is by far the strongest.

The leading yards of Varian, Walker, Beckett, Haggas and Crisford all send expensive well bred 3yo’s to post and it is race to watch for the future.

I will be having a lot more bets on Haggas horses in Novice Stakes races this week but i am going to leave Muhaajim alone.

He has shown good pace on both outings and has been forced to race without cover in the early stages of both. However although by no means ridden out he has finished weakly in both contests. He is by Sea of Stars but the dam was best over 7f and my observation is that he will do better dropped to 7f when racing in handicaps.

Accentuate has form with Raafedd a ‘very good one’ in the Haggas yard but in a race full of unexposed potentially nice horses i will watch for the future.

The 7.30 is much weaker and Haggas sends Magical Idea for her second outing having shown little on debut. That can be said about all of the runners with racecourse experience but Magical Idea learned very little on her first run having been left in front for the first 5F and she needs to show much more on this outing before being considered a betting proposition. That being said Camtank improved over a stone to win at Lingfield on Saturday evening so she could win but not carrying my money.

So NO Bet to add to the Diary of a Season on Monday but a very busy fortnight ahead.
