This week is one of the best of the Summer with the 3 day Newmarket July meeting from Thursday and John Smiths Magnet Cup day at York on Saturday.
The Haggas horses have been in ‘stop start’ form all season but the week ahead looks likely to see greater consistency with many of the entries holding leading chances. The key area of under performance this season has been the failure of many maidens to get a first victory under their belts which has restricted their progression into handicaps. I expect that to improve this week
The week starts off on Monday with a decent card at Ayr and the Haggas yard are expected to kick off the week with a winner with their only runner on the day, Binhareer in the 3.00
The 3yo grey gelding has been campaigned over 7f on each of his four starts but is bred to be a sprinter and after a very promising first run of the season at Kempton, when he raced wide but showed excellent speed before weakening, is down to 6F for the first time on Monday.
The form of that run at Kempton has been boosted by the second winning twice in Class 4, the latter occasion off an 8lb higher mark and the 3rd winning very easily also in Class 4 by just under 3L.
Binhareer is well drawn in stall 7 and is ridden by Oisin Orr who has a 33% strike rate when riding for Haggas. Most of the opponents are old stagers who now need Heavy ground at this trip. There are a couple of 3yo’s in the line up but the expectation is that Binhareer will show considerable improvement for the drop in trip and looks very well treated from a mark of 79. His half brother Trefor is running consistently well to a mark in the 90’s.
The ground will be drying out but still on the soft side and that makes it extremely difficult to peg back front runners, which is where I expect the 3yo to be, edging across to the stand rail and winning with a bit in hand. 3/1 -4/1 BoG is what i expected.
Diary of a Season Recommended Bet 2pt win Binhareer 3.0 Ayr 3/1 BOG Bet 365
