Friday – hold on for Super Saturday.

Thursday’s 10 runners ran with great credit and provided more than enough evidence to suggest that Saturday and Sunday can be very successful.

The Haydock runners all handled the conditions really well although if the forecast is correct they will be a lot softer on Friday and Saturday. Tom Marquand was great on Hozeki and sets him and Somerville Lodge up for a big weekend. She drifted at one point to 15/8 which was a decent price before backed close to the off into 5/4.

The juvenile double at Haydock suggests that the yards 2yo’s are now finding their form after a very disappointing 2026 season so far.

Both Salisbury runners Albaydaa and Time Loop produced noteworthy performances as did Al Maslool at Southwell and as expected Luminaire was inconvienced by the way the race was run.

Frances Ethel unfortunately was 4th at Longchamp just missing out on Black Type

All in all a very positive consistent day – that’s been a long time coming. It is frustrating to miss a couple of winners but that has rarely been the case this season more down to the inconsistent form of the yard rather than sound advice.

Three runners on Friday

In the Ascot 2.30 the unraced Karsakov will probably attract support following the impressive win of Sharaad at Haydock on Thursday. Haggas 2yo’s winning on debut is very much the exception rather than the rule and it will take more than one juvenile to warrant backing them. If they win it’s either because they are exceptional or the race is poor, they will never be subjected to a hard race.

Karsokov Ascot 2.30 No Bet Recommended.

The Class 2 handicap at 4.48 sees Zennor Storm after being beaten as market leader at York looks to recover losses in a race that looks equally competitive. He has yet to prove that the mark of 91 is within his compass. Hopefully he will go close but there seemed to be no excuses at York and races under very similar conditions on Friday.

Back to Haydock and just one runner Creative Queen who was really unfortunate to be beaten a nose at Yarmouth runs on soft ground in the 5f handicap at 5.47. Although she has a win on soft ground Ceiren Fallon got off and said she won despite the ground.

She is short in the market at 6/1 but is likely to drift out further.
