50% Strike Rate- taste of what’s to come in May…

It was great to see Infraad justify stable confidence on Wednesday – the yards only runner of the day – won in the style of a useful staying 3yo- by over 6L at 4/5 on – having been briefly on offer at a huge price of 2/1 on Tuesday evening.

He was ridden without restraint, despite pulling hard on his previous outings and typified the way the horses from Somerville Lodge have performed over the past week with the strike rate 50% from 8 runners.

Thursday sees the continued increase in runners with 4 horses due to run at Yarmouth. We continue to stick to our no bet in maiden and novice rule.

In the 2.40 Venetian Sky makes a second appearance on the course but the son of St Marks Basilica was very backward on his debut and will almost certainly need more experience. in any case he meets the very useful Gosden trained filly Fashion People who will be odds on to follow up her debut win at Newcastle.

No Bet Recommended.

In the 1m maiden at 3.15 Adamlyi and Venetian Lion take their chances. Venetian Lion will be better for the experience but there is a good chance that Adamlyi may be good enough to win on his second outing.

Asian Culture and Euston Hall are stiff opposition with sufficient form in the book that stops me wanting to back Adamlyi on the back of his first run, this could be one of those Yarmouth novice races that throws up several good quality winners and is a race too watch for the future.

No Bet recommended

The final runner at Yarmouth is Golden Horse who makes his handicap debut at 4.25 off a mark of 79. After winning his maiden at Hamilton at long odds on he disappointed when beaten over 12L carrying a penalty in a Class 4 Novice stakes at Newmarket. That form has not worked out and the mark of 79 looks far from generous.

Of course, he may well improve a great deal and strengthen up from 3 to 4 but I would want to see evidence on the track before getting involved financially.

No Bet recommended as we look forward to a bumper weekend at Newmarket.
