Somerville Saturday – market update

It is no good hiding from the fact that weakness in the market surrounding a William Haggas horse is rarely a good sign . Occasionally an early morning drift occurs followed by strong support but that is usually when the opening markets have put one in too short.

From a market perspective the signs are encouraging on what could be a good day for the team. Market moves in order of race time:

Newmarket 1.33 Orionis : Has been backed into a general 9/2 from 6/1. This despite support for the favourite Romantic Symphony 5/2 into 11/10. No doubt the Billy Loughnane factor is in play as he has 7 rides all with chances . Her form in France wasn’t well advertised by Pierian yesterday and our ew bet on Orionis at 6/1 still looks the best play.

Goodwood 14.25 Opportunity ( our selection ) has been well supported from a best early price of 10/3 he is low as 2/1 generally 9/4. Al Aasy moved the reverse way 2/1 out to 3/1 but the market is now settling down . With both likely to be around 9/4 with continued strong support for the Irish raider In the Teens 9/1-10/3

Thirsk 2.43 Brighton Belle has been very well backed. On offer initially at 5/2 Friday evening she is generally 11/10. Daniel Tudhope takes the ride and is bidding to win the race for the 5th time in six runnings.

Goodwood 3.00 Santorini Star opened ante post around 4/1 and despite several leading fancies not running is now as big as 11/2. Given her owners it is always possible there could be a big late plunge but at the moment this looks a confidence builder for an Autumn campaign before she heads off to the paddocks.

Newmarket 3.23 Hardy’s Hero has been relatively weak drifting from 9/4 to 7/2. That early price was too short but the drift is also down to strong support for the class dropper Spirit of Saxony now 3/1 from 9/2

Goodwood 3.35 Realign steady at around 25/1

Newmarket 3.58 Divine Knight well supported into 7/4 from 9/4 Only Six Pack (ridden by Billy) has been backed against our 2pt Bet.

Newmarket 4.33 Thaluna has fluctuated initially backed from 3/1 into 2/1 and now back out to 11/4. This is due to the support for Food for Thought with her form linked to our Maximum Bet winner yesterday Silver Lake. That may be overrated and 11/4 is a very good price for our 2pt bet Thaluna

Hamilton 6.25 Kissmehoneyhoney. The 4yo has drifted from 11/8 to 15/8 in the wake of a gamble the other way 11/8 from 9/4 for According to Mark. It looks a stiff task having to give 11lb to the 3yo colt.

If your betting have a great day – I will update my thoughts on the two Sunday runners later this evening.
